摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplex communication system that a communication apparatus itself is not needed to be replaced even when the installed place of a user's side communication apparatus is changed due to the user's removal, etc., and to provide the wavelength multiplex communication apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the wavelength multiplex communication system, a semiconductor optical amplifier element (SOA) 121 having the gain exceeding a prescribed value to two or more lights of specified wavelengths is arranged as a light-emitting element in each users' side communication unit 11 (11A-11D); a diffraction grating 141 resonating with the light of a prescribed wavelength is replaceably arranged so as to be opposed to each other at the opposite end face to the end face that emits light to an optical fiber 14 which is a transmission line for the SOA 121; and the cycle of the diffraction grating 141 is set to be a different cycle at every users' side communication unit 11 (11A-11D). Hence, the wavelength of the light emitted from the light-emitting element 121 in each users' side communication unit 11 (11A-11D) can be easily changed by replacing the diffraction grating 141. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
