PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage battery at low cost by eliminating a ring member that was required in the conventional technology, thereby eliminating the material cost of the ring member and installation man-hour of the electrode pole in the terminal structure of the storage battery, and to make the storage battery thin and small by lowering further the height dimension of the terminal sealing part, without lowering the discharge capacity of the storage battery. SOLUTION: In the storage battery comprising a group of electrodes housed in a battery case and a lid covering the opening part of the battery case, the group of electrodes is made of a positive electrode and a negative electrode facing each other through a separator, and has at least a strap 15 formed at the electrode ear of either polarity and an electrode pole 16 protruding from this strap. An opening part corresponding to the electrode pole is provided at the lid 14, and a terminal plate 20 that is jointed to the electrode pole and insertion molded to the lid is provided. And a protrusion 18 that faces the strap is provided at the surrounding enclosing the opening part of the lid and the space formed by the protrusion, the strap, and the opening part is sealed by the sealing compound 21.
