<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a storage battery has a substantially shortened life when used for supplying power to onboard equipment 3 of an automatic toll collection system and a problem that a battery goes dead as a result of increased power consumption when the power is supplied from a body of a recent vehicle equipped with a plurality of pieces of electrical equipment. <P>SOLUTION: A navigation system body 1 is formed to control supply of the power to the ETC onboard equipment 3 by determining from vehicle location information obtained. When a distance between a vehicle location and the automatic toll collection system is within a given range based on the vehicle location information, the power is supplied to the ETC onboard equipment 3 for standby. Using an LED display or the like that is mounted to a monitor 2 of the onboard equipment 3 or a navigation system, the ETC onboard equipment 3 on standby displays and informs a user of the vehicle that the onboard equipment 3 is on standby. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
