PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable control valve type lead acid storage battery in which the valve opening pressure of the safety valve does not increase abnormally even if used for a long period at high temperatures. SOLUTION: This is a control valve type lead acid storage battery in which a part of a group of electrodes that are housed in a battery case is dipped in an electrolyte. The battery comprises a liquid plug 23 having a safety valve that is installed on a filling port 22 provided on the lid 21 covering the battery case and a cylindrical part 30 that protrudes toward the battery case from the surrounding of the valve of the above safety valve. And the top end of the cylindrical part 30 is closed and has an opening 31 on the side portion of the cylindrical part 30. The top end of the above opening 31 is provided at a higher position than the electrolyte surface when the battery is inverted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
