ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element with improved electron injection performance into an organic light emitting layer and to improve luminous efficiency. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is provided with an organic light emitting layer 3 and an electron transport layer 4 between an anode 1 and a cathode 2 with the electron transport layer 4 positioned on the cathode 2 side. The electron transport layer 4 is formed from cesium and an organic compound having an electron mobility of 10-5cm2/Vs or more. The work function of cesium is low, so that an electron is easily injected from the cathode 2 to the electron transport layer 4, and because the electron mobility of the organic compound comprising the electron transport layer 4 is more than 10-5cm2/Vs, the electron can be efficiently transported, thereby improving the electron injection performance into the organic light emitting layer 3.
