PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain discrimination in Internet facsimile. SOLUTION: This facsimile machine (FAX) capable of detecting a caller's telephone number prior to call connection is provided with a means for registering a telephone number and an IP address correspondingly to one-action dialing. When an IP address is received from opposite party's FAX at calling, the IP address is registered correspondingly to the calling address if the IP address has not been registered yet. When both of caller's telephone number information and the IP address of the opposite party's transmitter can be detected at receiving an incoming call, the telephone number or the IP address is automatically registered if either one of the telephone number and IP address has not been registered. When the detected telephone number and IP address are different from the registered ones, the differences are displayed, and at receiving a registration instruction from an operator, the information detected by the current communication is registered.
