PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software installation authentication method or the like by which an authentication server side can surely recognize software installation and which is applicable to software without restrictions on a terminal on which the software is installed. SOLUTION: The terminal 2 generates a random number R according to a command of a random number generation module 12 and substitutes a random number R and a serial number Sn (individual number of software 1) into a one-time password calculation equation according to a command of an authentication data generation module 14, thus generating authentication data B. The random number R and the serial number Sn are transmitted to an authentication server 3. The authentication server 3 substitutes the random number R and the serial number Sninto the one-time password calculation equation to generate the authentication data B and transmits the data to the terminal 2. The terminal 2 collates the authentication data B generated on the terminal 2 with the authentication data B transmitted from the authentication server 3 according to a command of an authentication data B collation module 16.
