PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a tunnel capable of improving safety by improving visibility just after the occurrence of a power failure and thereby reducing accidents within the tunnel. SOLUTION: This lighting device 1 for the tunnel is provided with a luminaire 2, a normal power supply part 3, an emergency power supply part 4 having an uninterruptible power supply unit 4a and a private power generator 4b, a contact conversion part 5, a control part 6 and a power failure detecting part 7 (non-illustration). When the power failure detecting part 7 detects that an abnormal lighting time for stopping power supply of a commercial power source comes from a basic lighting time, the luminaire 2 is continuously lighted by supplying power from the private power generator 4b after lighting the luminaire 2 for prescribed time by supplying power from the uninterruptible power supply unit 4a. The control part 6 gradually reduces luminance of the luminaire 2 at a prescribed rate when the power source is switched from the normal power supply part 3 to the uninterruptible power supply unit 4a.
