PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation key apparatus whereby a user can simply visually recognize a present recording state and a present reproducing state of a recording and reproducing apparatus externally. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing apparatus for recording/ reproducing video, audio and images includes operation keys for operating recording and reproducing states and a means for illuminating the keys, the illuminating state of the operation keys is varied. A camera section is provided as a recording means and the operation keys are illuminated in interlocking with information of an imaging state of the camera section.
