PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of signal characteristics of light received by a photodetector due to optical interference. SOLUTION: An optical pickup unit equipped with the photodetector 9, which receives reflected light reflected with an optical disk d, converts the received reflected light into an electric signal, is equipped with a photodetector transfer means by which the photodetector 9 is transferred, in order to change the optical path length from the optical disk d of the reflected light to the photodetector 9. Since optical interference can be prevented by changing the optical path length, and consequently, deterioration of the signal characteristics due to the light interference can be prevented.
