PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system which realizes fast access to a disk drive group on a network, a method for accessing disk drives, and a program. SOLUTION: When a client host sends an access request packet to a server host to make a request to read and write data stored in a striping disk drive on an SAN (storage area network), the server host accesses meta-data of file system managing disk drives, specifies the location of data corresponding to the access request packet of the client host, and further generates and stores a disk access information table in which physical block sizes and data locations are listed by disk drives in a data packet, which is sent to the client host.
