To prepare frozen products for delivery, to meet orders, a batch of the products is selected automatically at the main deep freeze store (2) where they are held at a very low temperature, and passed to a forwarding stage (30). The temperature at the forwarding stage is at a higher temperature, just below freezing, for the required amount of products to be separated, and the surplus is returned (50) to the deep freeze store. The selected products are passed to a sorting stage (8) at a temperature just below freezing, where an operative breaks them down into pallets for the separate orders for dispatch (100).
