<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming system to which setting according to respective functions is easily inputted in the image forming apparatus of a high function and multi-function type provided with a copying function, a scanner function, a facsimile function, etc., and the image forming system comprising the image forming apparatus and external equipment. <P>SOLUTION: Setting data for user setting is converted to user setting data which can be used by a portable telephone set 200 and transmitted to the portable telephone set 200, which stores the user setting data in its own RAM 205 when receiving it. The portable telephone set 200 changes the content of the user setting data with respect to the image forming apparatus 100 stored in the RAM 205 according to a change instruction by a user, and transmits it to the image forming apparatus 100 according to a transmission instruction by the user.
