PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically constitute a current detector which is not affected by the input/output voltage or the temperature, in a chopper system of a DC/DC converter. SOLUTION: Since the peak value of one cycle of the current I<SB>3</SB>of a switching element 3 in Fig. 2 is equal to the peak value of the current I<SB>2</SB>of a switching element 2, the inclination dI<SB>3</SB>/dt of the current reduction of I<SB>3</SB>is proportional to the voltage VL of a battery 5 on the low voltage side, and is inversely proportional to the inductance of a coil 4, and it is given by dI<SB>3</SB>/dt= VL/L, and the current I<SB>3</SB>of the switching element 3 can be calculated from the current peak value of the switching element 2. The current IL flowing in the coil 4 can be obtained as the output by letting a constant current proportionate to dI<SB>3</SB>/dt=VL/L flow out of a capacitor C from the point of time when the switching element 2 is turned off and I<SB>2</SB>becomes zero.
