A fuel reformer capable of easily providing a high weight energy density and a high volume energy density, a method of easily and efficiently manufacturing the fuel reformer, an electrode for electrochemical device such as a fuel cell, and an electrochemical device, the fuel reformer (1) comprising a Pt-based catalyst layer (4) for taking out hydrogen from liquid fuel such as methanol and a hydrogen permeable layer (5) such as a Pd thin film not allowing liquid to permeate and allowing hydrogen to permeate therethrough; the electrochemical device such as the fuel cell (40) comprising a negative terminal (19), a positive terminal (23), and a proton conductor film (14) held between these both poles, wherein hydrogen taken out from the fuel reformer is fed to the electrochemical device; the method of manufacturing the fuel reformer (1) comprising the steps of, to providing the hydrogen permeable layer (5), forming the hydrogen permeable layer (5) and the catalyst layer (4) on a bedding layer (51) of A1 and dissolving the bedding layer (51) for removal. |
