SCALY PARTICLES AND COSMETIC COMPRISING THE SAME, COATING COMPOSITION, RESIN COMPOSITION AND INK COMPOSITION

Scaly particles which comprise particles of a metal oxide having a low refractive index as a base material and, dispersed therein, particles of a metal oxide of a high refractive index having an average particle diameter of 160 to 450 nm in an amount of 5 to 50 wt %, and exhibit a light diffusion degree of 80 or more; and a cosmetic or the like comprising the above scaly particles. The above scaly particles preferably have an average particle diameter of 5 to 500 mum, an average thickness of 0.1 to 5 mum and an average aspect ratio of 5 to 300. The above scaly particles are suitably used as a filler which is reduced in the absorption of visible lights, scatters visible lights effectively, and has high durability and weather resistance, and the cosmetic gives favorable feeling such as good spread in its use and exhibits an appearance of lightness and transparency for a long time.
