A process to determine the charge condition of a battery measures the ratio of the total battery charge at a given time to the initial value to find the degree of degradation and multiplies the total charge, corresponding to the existing open circuit voltage, by the degree of degradation to obtain the existing charge condition. Independent claims is also included for the following (a) a device for determining the degree of degradation of the battery as above; and (b) thirteen other methods of determining the charge condition
