The workpiece guide, for a semi-automatic welding machine, has two clamping pads (23,25) in pairs over the whole length of the sheet body (3) at its overlapping edges (3',3). The clamping pads are at the insertion zone, between the electrode rollers. They are in contact with external press units (29), which increase the clamping forces (F) on the overlapping edges with an adjustable pressure.
