CATHEPSIN-ASSOCIAGED GENETICALLY MODIFIED NONHUMAN MAMMAL

A cathepsin E gene modified nonhuman mammal having been homologous-recombined with a targeting vector which comprises a cathepsin E gene having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or a partial amino acid sequence or its DNA fragment and the following 2 homologous recombination regions: (1) an about 1.2 kbp DNA fragment in the 5'-upstream side of exon 1; and (2) an about 7.0 kbp DNA fragment in the 3'-downstream side of exon 4. This cathepsin E gene modified nonhuman mammal is expected as usable in clarifying pathological conditions in which cathepsin E participates and as a model animal in some experiments.
