The superstructure (2) for motor vehicles, in particular automobiles, incorporates an impact absorption unit (14) in the form of a deformation element (15) made from a highly deformable material which joins frame elements of the body (13) of a vehicle door (4). An Independent claim is also included for a method for producing a door with an impact absorption unit for the proposed vehicle superstructure.
