<p>A curling iron (5) having an improved actuating mechanism. The curling iron (5) has a handle (30) connected to a hair-winding portion (90) with a hair-retaining clip (60). The handle (30) has a flexible sleeve (32) with a number of raised ribs (34). In the interior of the handle (30) is a clip actuating member (48) being connected to an intermediate member (46) about a pivot pin (42). A hair-retaining clip (60) is connected to the intermediate member (46). A force is applied through the sleeve (32) to deflect clip-actuating member (48). The clip-actuating member (48) raises the hair-retaining clip (60) from a closed position to an open position with a minimum amount of force for an increased ease of operation and more productive hair curling.</p> |
