There is disclosed a film dispenser (10) comprising a housing (12) adapted t o receive and hold a roll of film (14) and having a dispensing opening (50) through which a layer of film may pass, the dispenser being provided with a movable cutting unit having a blade (30) mounted therein, the dispenser (10) further comprising a cutting channel (26) shaped and positioned to receive said blade (30). It is preferred that the dispenser (10) has means to mainta in tension in the film as it is cut.
