A steering device, wherein a grip limit control processing (30b') judges whether or not a grip level ϵ estimated by grip level estimation processing (30a) is less than a specified grip level ϵ', and if judged to be less than ϵ', an assist power by the motor (M) is quickly increased to thereby let a driver feel a suddenly lightened steering by a steering wheel and inform the driver that the grip level of the steering wheel is nearing its limit. Accordingly, the probability of skidding to be caused by turning the steering wheel further in the same direction is informed to the driver to call a steering attention to the driver. Therefore, the stability of vehicle behavior can be enhanced without getting the driver feel uneasiness.
