The cross flow blower has a fan housing with a drive motor and a cross flow roller with two longitudinal ends, of which that on the side facing the drive motor is in drive connection with the motor. A protective member (60) so encloses a bearing support section that the amplitude of vibrations of the cross flow roller are limited, avoiding the cross flow roller coming into contact with the fan housing. The protective member is provided with a number of elastic members (64,66,68), which elastically secure in a corresponding recess of the fan housing. The protective member has a collar (72',74',76'), which with the protective member secured locates at least in areas against the fan housing.
