<p>An information recording medium contains version information indicating to which version of the recording specification the information recording medium corresponds. Moreover, the medium contains standard recording condition information for recording information at a standard speed and high-speed recording condition information for recording information at a higher speed. An information recording device compares the version information on the information recording medium to the version information of the information recording device side to judge whether information recording is enabled. When it is judged that information recording is disabled according to the version information, adaptive version information is further compared to the version information of the information recording device side to judge whether information recording is enabled. Accordingly, even when it is judged that information recording is disabled according to the version information alone, if it is judged that recording is enabled by the adaptive version information corresponding to the high-speed recording condition, information can be recorded. Thus, it is possible to correctly judge whether recording is enabled to the information recording medium.</p> |
