RUN-FLAT CORE

A run-flat core (10) shaped to have a box (11) with its upper surface (13) closed and its lower surface opened and a reinforcing plate (12) installed f or reinforcement in the box. The core (10) is composed of a plurality of blocks (15) of the same shape connected peripherally of a wheel. The core has flang es (18) projecting right and left at low position in the direction of the heigh t of the core. The plurality of flanges of the core are wound with a belt (19) or wire (20) from outside, and the resulting tension urges the core against the rim to establish close contact therebetween. The blocks (15) are interconnected at a low position in the direction of the height of the core. The core is formed with a longitudinal groove (10c), in which the belt (19) or wire (20) is wound, with the resulting tension urging the core against the r im to establish close contact therebetween.
