(2S)-2-ETHYLPHENYLPROPIONIC ACID DERIVATIVE

摘要

A novel (2S)-2-ethylphenylpropionic acid derivative and an addition salt thereof. They combine as a ligand with a human peroxisome proliferator- activated receptor (PPAR).alpha. to activate it. They are effective in lipid depression, arteriosclerotic inhibition, antiobesity, blood sugar depression , etc. Also provided is a medicinal composition of either of these. The (2S)-2 - ethylphenylpropionic acid derivative is represented by the general formula (1): (1) wherein R1 represents halogeno or trifluoromethyl; R2 represents halogeno or trifluoromethyl when R3 represents hydrogen, and represents hydrogen, halogeno, or trifluoromethyl when R3 represents halogeno or trifluoromethyl; and R3 represents hydrogen, halogeno, or trifluoromethyl.
