A system and method for financing an edifice. The method includes selling a first instrument for consideration granting utility rights of a seat in the edifice. The first instrument may be a personal seat license. A second instrument associated with the personal seat license may be issued. The second instrument, which may be a financial redemption certificate, may be issued without cost to the purchaser and guaranteed by a non-government entity for at least the consideration of the first instrument. The edifice may be a sports stadium located within a sports venue.
