A polymer characterized by comprising repeating units represented by the formula (1) and having a number-average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene of 10<3> to 10<8>: (1) wherein Ar<1> and Ar<2> each represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group; one of X<1> and X<2> represents C(=O) or C(R<1>)(R<2>) and the other represents oxygen, sulfur, C(=O), etc.; M represents O-C(=O), C(=O)-O, oxygen, sulfur, C(=O), etc.; Z1 represents -CR=CR- or -C=C-; and d is 0 or 1.
