PHOTOSELECTIVE MARKING OF BIOLOGICAL TARGETS

A drug delivery system and methods are provided wherein a therapeutic/diagnostic agent or a component of the immune system is directed to particular cells in a selected organ or a specific site. Said drug delivery system consists of a photoselective compound (Figure 2) for photoselective marking of biological targets wherein said photoselective compound consists generally of a vector component bonded to a marker component bonded to a cap component via a photocleavable/photosensitive bond, wherein the vector component is biological-target-specific and the marker component is unable to bind without irradiation cleavage of the cap component.
