A hard roof for a motor vehicle, which can be folded out of a position in which it covers the passenger compartment of the vehicle into a position in which it is stored in the boot of said vehicle, comprising at least two longitudinally adjacent rigid elements, the rear edge of a first element (1) being articulated on the front edge of a second element (2).The inventive roof comprises at least two centering wedges (7-10), a first wedge (8) being mounted in the vicinity of the rear edge of the first element (1) and the second wedge (9, 10) of each pair of wedges being mounted in the vicinity of the front edge of the second element (2) opposite the first wedge, the first wedge of each pair of wedges comprising a rear stop surface (11, 12) embodied in such a way that it can cooperate with a front stop surface (13, 14) of the second wedge when the roof is in a position wherein it covers the passenger compartment of the vehicle, the stop surfaces of the two pairs of wedges being inclined in relation to the longitudinal direction P of the vehicle.
