The hot bulb for heat treatment of wires (C) in wire drawing machines is a cylinder of electrically conducting material. The surface (D) of the cylinder has parallel disposed slot, groove or corrugation form recesses. The cylinder surface is flat. The cylinder over its whole length or between ribs or slots or grooves extends conically and the cone angle may alter over the cylinder circumference. The cylinder may be solid or hollow in construction, and the ends of the cylinder have a flange. The hot bulb may be made from one workpiece or from several parts.
