Driver assistance method for assistance during turning off and parking in spaces, uses sensors to detect speed and distance in relation to other vehicles and obstructions

A motor vehicle's (1) side and front areas fitted with left (6) and right (7) front sensors are detected in a first speed range defined by the vehicle when stationary and at a first preset speed threshold during a turn-off maneuver or while crossing a traffic junction. In a second speed range defined by speeds greater than the first preset speed range, the side distance of the vehicle is measured from the roadside border and/or neighboring vehicles. All data detected in these actions is fed as a video image to a driver via a monitor in the motor vehicle. An Independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the method of the present invention.
