Quantitative electrochemical determination e.g. for environmental pollutant monitoring, of absorbed pyrolysis gases from small samples

Individual chemical species e.g. HF, HCl, HBr, HI, H2S, SO2, SO3, or NH3 are absorbed in liquid and determined by electrochemical e.g. argentometric or coulometric assay. A small sample e.g. 0.6-2.0 ml of organic material containing halogen, sulphur or ammonia, at low concentration, is mineralised by pyrolysis in a stream of oxygen gas, and the gaseous product dissolved in water to provide a solution for analysis. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for pyrolysis and absorption.
