<p>PURPOSE: A YCrCb color based face region extracting method is provided to extract a face region rapidly and correctly using color information represented in YCrCb color space. CONSTITUTION: One conditional region where a center color has Cr larger than Cb on CrCb plane and another conditional region where a center color has Cr smaller than Cb are set, and a skin-color region with respect to an input image is detected using the set two conditional regions(102). In detection of the skin-color region according to the two conditions, areas composed of pixels satisfying the two conditions are grouped into similar color groups to designate a face candidate region(102b). The designation of the face candidate region is carried out through a step of quantizing color values of pixels satisfying skin-color condition, a step of extracting a histogram with respect to the entire image and a center histogram with respect to a partial region of the image, a step of finding the maximum bin in the histogram or the center histogram, a step of grouping bins having colors similar to the color of the maximum beam into one color group, and a step of designating only pixels satisfying a color range corresponding to the grouped bins as the face candidate region.</p> |
