PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can reduce the occurrences of a fixing failure and paper jams which are caused by wear, and, thereby, can satisfactorily maintain the image quality for a long period of time. SOLUTION: A fixing part 15 has: a thermal fixing roller 29 which heats and fixes unfixed toner T on paper P, a separation claw 37 which separates the paper P from the thermal fixing roller 29, and a separating movable sheet 39 which covers the leading end 38 of the separation claw 37. The leading end 38 of the separation claw 37 is in contact with the thermal fixing roller 29 via the separating movable sheet 39. Also, a releasing layer 45 is formed on the surface of the separating movable sheet 39, which is in contact with the thermal fixing roller 29. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
