PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid developer by which a process of removing a solvent is omitted, the toner particle size is freely controlled and a liquid developer excellent in dispersion stability, development characteristics and cleaning property can be obtained. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a liquid developer is carried out by adding a solvent having an electric insulating property and no solubility with an ethylene-based copolymer resin to a pigment dispersion solution containing a pigment, an ethylene-based copolymer resin and at least one kind of solvent selected from≥10C alcohols and≥11C fatty acid esters which dissolve an ethylene-based copolymer resin while stirring the liquid in a high-speed shearing device so as to deposit the ethylene-based copolymer resin on the surface of the pigment to form toner particles.
