PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator which has an excellent thermal efficiency and compact structure, accelerates the evaporation of a liquid, and gives a stable raw fuel gas. SOLUTION: The evaporator is a plate-type and for obtaining a raw fuel gas for reforming by vaporizing a liquid raw fuel. An evaporating part for vaporizing the liquid raw fuel is formed at a space sandwiched between 2 sheets of platy elements and a snaking flow path is formed inside heat transfer surfaces of the evaporating part, where a flow path of a heating medium is formed at both or one side of the evaporating part through the platy elements. While the supplied liquid raw fuel flows in the snaking flow path, the fuel is heated and vaporized to give the raw fuel gas at the outlet of the evaporating part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
