PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cyanic ester resin having high heat resistance and excellent optical properties and used as an optical material for optical materials and optical components, especially optical waveguides, gratings, and optical switches. SOLUTION: The cyanic resin has an absorbancy of 1 or lower per centimeter to any wavelength in the range of 800-1,600 nm and is obtained by polymerizing a cyanic ester-based monomer.
