PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for compensating a discharge fluctuation of ink drops resulting from a temperature change by temperature sensors of a smaller number than that of printing heads. SOLUTION: A printer is provided which carries out printing by discharging ink drops on a printing medium. The printer has a plurality of printing heads, a plurality of temperature sensors arranged in the printer, and a discharge control unit for controlling the discharge of ink drops from at least a part of N printing heads in accordance with outputs of the plurality of temperature sensors, so as to compensate the discharge fluctuation of ink drops resulting from the temperature change of the plurality of printing heads.
