PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective tube for a thermocouple which has a superior resistivity for long periods even in a high-temperature and oxidative atmosphere or another corrosive atmosphere and has a good responsibility to the temperature change. SOLUTION: The protective tube of the thermocouple protests thermocouple strands, and is composed so that a covering layer 2 made of at least one kind of materials including pyrolytic carbon, carbon contained pyrolytic boron nitride, silicon nitride, and aluminum nitride is formed on the outer surface of a molded tubular body 1 being made of pyrolytic boron nitride and having one closed edge.
