PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an inorganic fluorescent material having excellent controllability of luminescent property, particle size and particle size distribution and provide an inorganic fluorescent material produced by the method. SOLUTION: The method for the production of an inorganic fluorescent material contains a baking step to raise the temperature in a manner that the average heating rate U0from the heat-starting temperature t0to an arbitrary temperature t1is set to be higher than the average heating rate Utfrom the arbitrary temperature t1to the heat-finishing temperature T1.
