PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of necessity of enough space for working with a driver at the side of a casing in adjusting the position of a ribbon guide in a prior art. SOLUTION: In a dot line printer having a hammering mechanism, a shuttling mechanism, a paper feeding mechanism, an endless ink ribbon, a roller driving section for driving the endless ink ribbon, a main brake section for giving tension to the endless ink ribbon, a ribbon guide having a positional adjusting mechanism for adjusting the running position of the endless ink ribbon and a platen for holding the striking power, characters and figures in the shape of dot matrix are printed by properly releasing a printing hammer during the process of a shuttling action between the hammering mechanism and the platen through the endless ink ribbon and a printing paper. The positional adjusting mechanism of the ribbon is made to be accessible with the driver from above the casing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
