PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate engine torque with accuracy higher than that in correcting basic torque only by a specified parameter. SOLUTION: When final engine torque Qfin is calculated, basic engine torque TQbse is calculated based on the engine speed and fuel injection quantity of an engine (Step 110). The deviation Qdlt between fuel injection quantity command vale and actual fuel injection quantity is estimated from the control signals (signals of pilot injection quantity Qpl and pilot injection time Intp) of fuel injection quantity and fuel injection time (Step 180). A correction value dTQ is calculated based on the deviation Qdlt as output torque that is the quantity of influence exerted on final engine torque Qfin (Step 190). The final engine torque Qfin is calculated by correcting the basic engine torque TQbse using this correction value dTQ (Steps 100 and 210). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
