<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the detection accuracy of on-vehicle radar equipment that detects objects by transmitting and receiving radar wave to the lateral position of an object specified as a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The on-vehicle radar equipment finds the instantaneous data showing the lateral position of the object normalized so that the running lane of its own vehicle may come to the front side from the detected results of the distance and azimuth to a target, and also finds a variance by using a prescribed number of pieces of the latest instantaneous data about the same target found up to now (S310-S330). When the variance is level 1 or larger or level 2 or smaller, the radar equipment uses the smoothed results of the instantaneous data as the data about the lateral position of the object. When the variance is larger than the level 1 and smaller than the level 2, the equipment uses the weighted mean value of both envelope values with respect to the maximum and minimum values of the instantaneous data as corrected data and the smoothed result of the corrected data as the data about the lateral position of the object (S340-S420). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
