PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which causes no fog by local charging failure, which stably maintains the potential for repeated use, which exhibits stable image characteristics, which has high sensitivity and which is easily manufactured even in an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a protective layer formed by applying a coating material for the protective layer on a photosensitive layer, then polymerizing/curing the coating material by heat, UV rays or electron beams. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor features that: an intermediate layer containing an electron transfer organic compound, a photosensitive layer containing a charge generating material, and a protective layer are formed in this order on a support; the intermediate layer has 0.3 to 3μm film thickness; the energy level of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of the electron transporting organic compound is≥6.0 eV; and the protective layer is formed by applying a coating liquid for the protective layer on the photosensitive layer and then polymerizing/curing by using at least one of heat, UV rays and electron beams.
