PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulser which facilitates increase in resolution, and is capable of changing its output signal pattern in addition. SOLUTION: A pulser 3 moves relatively with respect to a magnetic sensor 12 and produces a change in magnetic flux density. The pulser is provided with a supporting member 7, and lines 8a, 8b, 8c of magnetic ink marks formed on the supporting member 7. The lines 8a, 8b, 8c are printed on resin films 8 glued to the surface facing the sensor of the supporting member 7. The supporting member 7 is annular. The lines 8a, 8b, 8c are formed at specified pitches in a circumferential direction, and at least at one site on the circumference of each line 8a, 8b, 8c, a portion to be detected S for a reference position signal whose pattern differs from the remaining portion is formed.
