PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of carbon monoxide and dioxins. SOLUTION: In a stoker furnace 1 with a combustion chamber 2 formed over a stoker 6 and a wind box 7 positioned under the stoker 6, secondary air supply nozzles 9 disposed on both sidewalls 2d and 2e in a front region of the combustion chamber 2 are not opposed laterally, but columns of the secondary air supply nozzles 9 in sets of two columns of a plurality of secondary air supply nozzles 9 vertically arrayed at given intervals are staggered for longitudinally alternate positions. After RDF 13 fed onto the stoker 6 is combusted with primary air 5 supplied from the wind box 7, mixing/turbulence of combustion gas and secondary air 8 blown into the combustion chamber 2 staggeringly from the left and right is promoted in the combustion chamber 2 to improve a combustion state in a high temperature combustion zone.
