PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport guide in a discharge path to be freely projected and recessed in simple constitution without any special driving means. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a first sheet transport path for discharging a sheet formed by an image forming part to a paper discharge part outside the body, a pair of discharge rollers provided on the downstream side of the first sheet transport path, a detecting part provided near the upstream side of the paired discharged rollers to detect the trailing edge of the sheet transported through the first transport path, a control part for reversing the paired discharge rollers according to a detection signal of the detecting part, and a second sheet transport path for transporting the sheet again to the image forming part by reversion of the paired discharge rollers. A transport guide projected and recessed to the transport path is provided on the upstream side in the sheet discharge direction of the paired discharge rollers, and the transport guide is projected toward the transport path with the normal rotation of the paired discharge rollers to transport the sheet in the discharge direction and recessed from the transport path with the reversion of the paired discharge rollers to transport the sheet toward the second transport path.
