PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization maintaining optical fiber transmission member which has a ribbon-shaped connection end where an optical fiber array and a multi-fiber optical connector can be fitted and connected by multi-fiber batch fusion splicing as well as coated optical fibers of an ordinary ribbon and polarization main axis directions are regularly oriented and is easy to manufacture, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: A polarization maintaining optical fiber transmission member comprises a plurality of polarization maintaining optical fibers 1; and the plurality of polarization maintaining fibers 1 are gathered and united and at least one end side of the gathered and united part 2 is formed into a non-ribbon part 4 where the coated fibers are separated into a single-core, and tip parts of the non-ribbon part 4 are arranged in parallel array into a ribbon 3 while the polarization main axis directions of the polarization maintaining optical fibers 1 are regularly oriented.
